  1. Janice Jayne-St. Gemme says:

    Martin Brown
For about 15 years I have been searching for my 2x’s great grandfather, James Jayne. On a census it stated he was born in Newland. I know for sure his mother was Anne Edmonds (Edmunds) Jones Jayne from Skenfrith, Monmouth Wales. He was born 1803 or 1805. I believe she married John Jones in Newent. This is on the Forest of Dean web site. I cannot find a death record for John Jones. My brother’s DNA has been on file with Family Tree DNA since 2007. In a phone call last August they suggested a Family Finder Test. My Jayne family does not match with Jayne people. Anne Edmonds Jones married William Jayn (Jayne) in May 1808. This record is on the Wales records site. I believe strongly that William Jayne was not James’ father but took his surname. On the Family Finder Test we do match with Jones people. I had my brother’s YDNA done but we have really old old DNA and it has mutated over and over. So that is out. Some of the records that I have seen says Newent and I’m the person who asked the question on the F of Dean site about Newent being in Herefordshire. There are several of us (Jayne people) who have tried everything to find his birth, baptism record. So this is the reason that I have now turned to Herefordshire County. We would just like to know who his father was. His mother’s decision 200 years ago has not helped. James Jayne married Mary Wintle and their first daughter was named Anne. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.
